Katharine Sarikakis is Professor of Media Industries, Media Organisation and Media Governance at the University of Vienna. She researches communication governance from a critical perspective, examining the empowerment and disempowerment of cities. She is the author or editor of seven books, including Media Policy and Globalisation (with P Chakravartty) and currently writing an eight, Communication and Control. She is the co-founding editor of the International Journal of Media and Cultural Politics. More
Julian Carver is a leader in the field of government spatial information. He is currently the manager of Canterbury Spatial Data Infrastructure at Land Information New Zealand. Aftre the Canterbury earthquakes he led the establishment of information services at the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) as acting Chief Information Officer. He then went on to lead GIS, data, and digital communications for the Christchurch Central Development Unit, for the launch of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan before moving to LINZ in March 2013. He champions open government, community participation in government data and the power of data about people and place.
