Steven Livingston is Professor of Media and Public Affairs and International Affairs at The George Washington University and the director of the School of Media and Public Affairs’ (SMPA) Political Communication Program. His research and teaching focus on media/information technology, national security and global politics. He is particularly interested in the role of information technologies and media on governance, development, accountability, and human security. Among his books are Clarifying the CNN Effect (1997), When The Press Fails: Political Power and the News Media from Iraq to Katrina (2007) and Africa’s Evolving Infosystems: a Pathway to Stability and Development (2011).
